Well, it only took three days, but the brand new ESPNewsHD channel has been added to your Direct TV lineup. I didn’t get a chance to check it out before I left for work this morning, but I plan on checking it out the second I get home.

Those of you who telecommute, go check it out and let us know what you think.

Direct TV also added Disney Channel HD and Toon Disney HD. That brings their HD channel total to 95, with a new satellite being launched later this year which is going to have capacity for a few hundred more.

If you don’t have DTV by now and you have an HD TV, you are really missing out on the good stuff.

I wont go into details, but let’s just say sometimes the people you work with suck.

It’s been so quiet on the Direct TV HD front for almost a month now that I forgot that they still have channels to add.

Well, one of my big hopefuls is finally in: Fox Sports Net Arizona (649-1).

Of course, anything in HD on that channel is usually on 95 or 96, but it’s nice for it to finally have its own home.

Now while I said 23 channels, don’t get all excited. DTV loves to brag about the number of HD channels they have, but they include every single sports network channel among their numbers, so most of these we don’t care about.

The main new stations:

  1. Nickelodeon (Channel 299 )
  2. Spike HD (Channel 325)
  3. Country Music Television (Channel 327 )
  4. MTV HD (Channel 331)
  5. VH1 HD (Channel 335)

A bunch of stuff I really don’t watch most of the time. I’d watch those music stations like MTV or VH1 if they actually played, you know…music on them. But it’s mostly it’s cheesy reality shows and other crap.

And a quick run-through of those new channels revealed not a single bit of HD content. Enjoy!

There are also 5 pay-per-view HD channels and all these sports ones:

  2. FSN South HD (Channel 630-1)
  3. SportsSouth HD (Channel 631-1)
  4. Sun Sports HD (Channel 632-1)
  5. FSN Florida HD (Channel 634-1)

  7. FSN Cincinnati HD (Channel 638-1)
  8. FSN North HD (Channel 641-1)
  9. Altitude HD (Channel 644-1)
  10. FSN Rocky Mountain HD (Channel 645-1)
  11. FSN Arizona HD (Channel 649-1)
  12. FSN Northwest HD (Channel 651-1)
  13. FSN Bay Area HD (Channel 654-1)

According to Engadget HD, this brings DTV to 55 total HD channels, the most of any cable or satellite provider.

I wonder if that means more for Wednesday? Unsure.

  • The Cartoon Network (296)

You know what that means Jina? Damages in HD this week! For the final two episodes! OMG!

The title of this blog says 10 channels released and I only listed six. Apparently there are a lot of HD channels already released in the 600′s and 700′s that are related to regional sports networks. Unfortunately, I can’t tell you that the FSNAZ HD channel is up yet. The rest are stuff like the Yes network in New York and others.

I have to say, the best of the new crop is FX for me, but also Fox Business Network is very sharp looking. See the picture below.  Too bad I’m not so much into business stuff, but still. Also HGTV seems to have nothing but HD programming on it, so that could be cool.
