Universal Says "Thanks, but no thanks" To 'Tintin'

Universal Says “Thanks, but no thanks” To ‘Tintin’

By Jason on September 22, 2008

In what sounds like an incredibly bone-headed move from a business point of view, Universal Pictures has pulled out of the Tintin adaptation. They have declined to exercise an option to co-finance Tintin, which is already set up as a trilogy to be produced and directed by Steven Spielberg and Peter Jackson.

George Lucas Says Indy 5 Will Not Be A Mutt Williams Movie

George Lucas Says Indy 5 Will Not Be A Mutt Williams Movie

By Jason on August 14, 2008

Way back in May before Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull opened, George Lucas started laying the groundwork for a possible spin-off franchise starring the Shia LeBeouf character of Mutt Williams. However, it seems that maybe Lucas has been listening to the cries of the public as well as the ringing of the box office ticket counter because now he’s saying we might just see more of Indy.

According to Variety, Dreamworks has acquired the right to “The 39 Clues,” Scholastic’s multiplatform, 10-book, fantasy adventure series, that will launch on September 9th. Steven Spielberg is considering directing the project that many are saying could be the next Harry Potter.

New trailer for "Eagle Eye" flat-out rocks

New trailer for “Eagle Eye” flat-out rocks

By Mike on June 25, 2008

Back in May we posted the teaser for a new movie called Eagle Eye, starring Shia LaBeouf, Rosario Dawson, Michelle Monaghan and Billy Bob Thorton.

I didn’t even realize until now that Steven Spielberg was an executive producer on the project. Wow. That certainly adds a bit of excitement for this film, although it really doesn’t need any help.

Movie Review: "Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull" (2008)

Movie Review: “Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull” (2008)

By Mike on May 22, 2008

The last time I did the midnight movie thing was for Return of the King back in 2003. My 30+ year old body just doesn’t deal with the morning-after lack of sleep as well as it used to.

But I was younger back then and it was a heck of a movie to lose sleep over.

Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull was not.

Spielberg and Jackson to Co-Direct 3rd Tintin Film

Spielberg and Jackson to Co-Direct 3rd Tintin Film

By Jason on May 22, 2008

We’ve known for a while now that Steven Spielberg planned to direct the first of the planned Tintin trilogy. The plan has always been for Spielberg to direct the first film and Peter Jackson to direct the second one. There’s been wild speculation, however, about who would direct the third film in the trilogy.

Spielberg Finally Ready To Make "Lincoln" - Almost

Spielberg Finally Ready To Make “Lincoln” – Almost

By Jason on May 13, 2008

Steven Spielberg has said that he’s finally ready to get his Lincoln up and running. Spielberg’s film on Lincoln has been his “next” project for several years now. In fact, Liam Neeson was first cast as Abraham Lincoln for the film more than three years ago. Heck, the man has been prepping for the role so long he’s thinking of running for president.

Wolfgang Peterson Off "Ender's Game" Adaptation

Wolfgang Peterson Off “Ender’s Game” Adaptation

By Jason on April 24, 2008

Anyone who’s delved much at all into science fiction books will have already heard of Orson Scott Card and his magnificent book, Ender’s Game. It was one of my early favorites. I think my sister used to read it like once a year. I never got really caught up in the sequels but that first book was everything that’s good about science fiction writing.

Band of Brothers coming to Blu-Ray

Band of Brothers coming to Blu-Ray

By Mike on April 1, 2008

Somehow I never got to see Band of Brothers, the HBO classic miniseries that has a 9.6 out of 10 rating on IMDB by over 46,000 readers.

Directed by Tom Hanks, co-produced by himself and Steven Spielberg, the 10-part miniseries won countless awards from Emmys to Golden Globes, and is considered to be among the best miniseries of all-time.
