Mark Millar Talks Superman Trilogy

Mark Millar Talks Superman Trilogy

By Mike on September 4, 2008

Back in early July, I passed on news to you guys that Mark Millar, author of Wanted, War Heroes, 1985 and a host of other comics, told some people that he had a real idea for rebooting the Superman franchise.

And it was welcomed news, at least to me. The franchise is essentially dead in my eyes, as the last installment did nothing but enact a “ho-hum” from me. There had to be someone out there with a bigger and better idea, someone who could do what Christopher Nolan has done with Batman.

Mike's Pull List for the Week of August 27th

Mike’s Pull List for the Week of August 27th

By Mike on August 28, 2008

Six new comics this week, although two of them are on hold until I can grab a prior issue. Sadly Atomic Comics was out, so I’m going to have to figure out some way to order it online or find it at another store.

I’m currently in the middle of Y: The Last Man, Volume 9 and hope to finish that before the weekend, because I’m anxious to pick up the 10th and final chapter in this amazing saga. It’s sort of slowed down a bit here at the end because the dialogue has increased as explanations are given, but it’s still great.

Comic-Con: DC Universe Online looks awesome

Comic-Con: DC Universe Online looks awesome

By Mike on July 27, 2008

Before heading out to Comic-Con, I was inundated with press releases about demos for new products that would be showcased in San Diego. One that really stood out to me was the upcoming DC Universe Online MMO from Sony Online Entertainment.

I was lucky enough to get creative director Chris Cao to show me how this amazing game will work. He is essentially in charge of what happens with the design of the game and therefore I got some good information.

Mark Millar to save the Superman movie franchise?

Mark Millar to save the Superman movie franchise?

By Mike on July 2, 2008

If you recall way back in May, I posted a blog about the guys at SaveSuperman.com who were furiously working hard to get DC Comics to reinvent the Superman movie franchise and save it from the grasps of Bryan Singer and Brandon Routh.

Well, I don’t think they had anything to do with this news, but I’m sure they are positively giddy over it.

"Save Superman!" - So say the fans

“Save Superman!” – So say the fans

By Mike on May 13, 2008

This should be an interesting debate here, because I know there were some of us that really did like the latest Superman movie, Superman Returns, with Brandon Routh, and some of us who thought it sucked big time (me).

There is a site out there that is gaining momentum and being talked about more and more, and it’s called SaveSuperman.com.

Graphic Novel review: "Superman/Batman Vol. 1: Public Enemies"

Graphic Novel review: “Superman/Batman Vol. 1: Public Enemies”

By Mike on May 12, 2008

Superman and Batman have always been fascinating comic book characters for me. But it’s when they are together on those colorful pages that I really, REALLY enjoy their stories and adventures.
One of the first graphic novels I read and reviewed was The Dark Knight Returns by Frank Miller, which had some epic scenes between the [...]

Bryan Singer confirms 'Superman' sequel

Bryan Singer confirms ‘Superman’ sequel

By Mike on March 13, 2008

Well, Bryan Singer confirmed the long suspected and pretty much believed rumors that a sequel to Superman Returns will happen.
And from the sounds of things, it could be one of the rare occasions where a sequel outdoes the original. From the story on Empire:
“The first one was a romantic film and a nostalgic film, he [...]

Graphic novel review: 'The Dark Knight Returns' (1986)

Graphic novel review: ‘The Dark Knight Returns’ (1986)

By Mike on February 29, 2008

My foray into the world of graphic novels continued with The Dark Knight Returns, by Frank Miller circa 1986. The first one I read was Y: The Last Man, Book 1: Unmanned and I wrote a review about it around a week ago.
My background on this stuff is highly limited, but there is no doubt [...]
