Tom Cruise's Son Set To Play Young Will Smith In "Seven Pounds"

You read that right. Tom Cruise’s son, his adopted son, Connor, will be playing a young Will Smith in the emotional drama, Seven Pounds, due this December. Connor Cruise is the 13-year-old adopted (and black) son of Tom Cruise and Nicole Kidman. They got him back when Nicole was too busy to have a baby and you could still get kids in America (I’m guessing).

Seven Pounds is from Gabriele Muccino, who was also the director of Smith’s hit drama The Pursuit of Happyness which, interestingly enough, also starred Will Smith’s son, Jayden, as his son in the film. It is being reported that Connor won’t have to work quite as hard in Seven Pounds as Jayden did in that film as he will appear mostly in photographs and will not have a speaking part.

Joining Smith and the young Cruise in the Ã¢â‚¬Å“emotional story of a man who will change the lives of seven strangersÃ¢â‚¬Â? are Rosario Dawson, Woody Harrelson and Barry Pepper.

John Singleton's "The A-Team" Gets Release Date

According to Variety, John Singleton’s big screen version of The A-Team is getting a summer release date.

Twentieth Century Fox has skedded John Singleton’s film version of 1980s TV series “The A-Team” for release on June 12, 2009. Singleton will direct the action-adventure from a script by writing partners Michael Brandt and Derek Haas (“Wanted,” “3:10 to Yuma”).

We’ve already been hearing about how Ice-T or Ice Cube (one of the Ices) wants to play B.A. Baracus and how Singleton wants Woody Harrelson to play Capt. H.M. ‘Howling Mad’ Murdock. Singleton, however, does not want either of the Ice men.

I guess we’ll just have to wait for the casting announcements and the inevitable backlash from the crazy fans that still follow the show.

Semi-Pro (official site) is an outrageous comedy set in 1976 against the backdrop of the maverick ABA – a fast-paced, wild and crazy basketball league that rivaled the NBA and made a name for itself with innovations like the three-point shot and slam dunk contest.

Will Ferrell plays Jackie Moon, a one-hit wonder who used the profits from the success of his chart-topping song “Love Me Sexy” to achieve his dream of owning a basketball team. But Moon’s franchise, the Flint Michigan Tropics, is the worst team in the league and in danger of folding when the ABA announces its plans to merge with the NBA. If they want to survive, Jackie and the Tropics must now do the seemingly impossible – win.

This is the music video for the song, “Love Me Sexy,” that made Jackie Moon such a success.

Semi-Pro also stars Woody Harrelson (Anger Management, White Men Can’t Jump), Andre Benjamin (Four Brothers, music group Outkast), Maura Tierney, Will Arnett (Blades of Glory, “Arrested Development”), Andy Richter, David Koechner, and Jackie Earle Haley.

The film is written by Scot Armstrong (Old School) and directed by Kent Alterman.

Semi-Pro will be hitting theaters on February 29, 2008.

If there’s anything we know about Will Ferrell it’s that he doesn’t mind taking off his clothes, showing off his body, and wearing weird hair for a movie. I’m not sure if he’ll be doing the first two things in this movie, but we do know that he’ll be sporting a righteous FRO for “Semi-Pro” (official site).

The preview makes this film look really funny. It’s already got two of my favorite quotes of the year…and the year hasn’t even started yet.

“We get a live camel in here and just see what happens.”
“If you have a small child use it as a shield!”
