Exclusive: Passchendaele Gets Release Date

Exclusive: Passchendaele Gets Release Date

We have news for you guys that not even IMDB has right now.

Passchendaele cast member Robert Nogier, who plays Mr. Harper in the movie, told us today that the release date has now been set for October 17th. That date has jumped around a lot, moving from November 11th to October 10th, but now you have to believe it’s pretty firm.

Nogier plays the mean neighbor of David and Sarah Mann in the movie. The plot looks very intriguing as it tells the tale of 20,000 Canadian soldiers in World War I and the fact that 5,000 never returned from battle.

New City of Ember Poster Bores Me

Fox Walden has released the second poster (following the teaser) for their upcoming adaptation City of Ember. I must say, besides making me think of the poster for Journey to the Center of the Earth, this poster just bores me.

Guillermo del Toro Booked Thru 2017 - Maybe Longer

Variety has done an article that talks about Guillermo del Toro and all of the projects he has in the works and in the article they show that the director is booked through at least 2017 and maybe even longer.

Mark Millar Talks Superman Trilogy

Back in early July, I passed on news to you guys that Mark Millar, author of Wanted, War Heroes, 1985 and a host of other comics, told some people that he had a real idea for rebooting the Superman franchise.

And it was welcomed news, at least to me. The franchise is essentially dead in my eyes, as the last installment did nothing but enact a “ho-hum” from me. There had to be someone out there with a bigger and better idea, someone who could do what Christopher Nolan has done with Batman.

Appaloosa Gets 4 Really Cool Character Posters

I’ve already mentioned that I’m really excited to see the Ed Harris directed Appaloosa. I love westerns in general and the last few big screen westerns have actually been pretty good (Open Range and 3:10 To Yuma come to mind). This one looks like it could be another good one.

Awww, Two-Face is Dead

According to Aaron Eckhart and Chud.com, Two-Face is completely and utterly dead. Devin at Chud recently did an interview with Eckhart in which he ended up asking about future Batman movies and Two-Face, and this was the response:

“I asked Chris [Nolan] if there was a chance of coming back. ‘No way,’ he said. ‘He’s toast.’”

Ugh. Toast.

Zack and Miri Make a Banned Poster

I don’t think any of us were surprised when Kevin Smith’s film Zack and Miri Make a Porno was first given an NC-17 rating. You gotta figure any movie from Kevin Smith about two people making a porno is probably going to have to fight for an R (which it did, and won). But it seems that even the artwork for this film is too much for the states as the first poster for Zack and Miri Make a Porno has been banned.

Stephen Sommers To Direct New Tarzan Film

According to Variety, Stephen Sommers is in negotiations to direct a big screen version of Tarzan for Warner Bros. and producer Jerry Weintraub. Sommers, who just wrapped production on G.I. Joe will also be co-writing the screenplay with Stuart Beattie.

Movie Review: 21 (2008)

One of the first things I figured would happen when I saw the movie 21 was that I’d get to find out just how badly they changed the original story from the book, Bringing Down the House. I read it a few years back and was just astounded by how these guys took Vegas casinos for hundreds of thousands of dollars.

After some brief research before writing this review, I discovered that it really didn’t matter what the final screenplay ended up being for 21 because the book itself apparently butchered more than the film ever could.

Red Band Trailer for Zack and Miri Make a Porno

Way back in May, Jason posted the Red Band teaser for the upcoming Kevin Smith comedy, Zack and Miri Make a Porno. It stars Seth Rogan and Elizabeth Banks.

We now have the full-length preview for the movie that gives us some hilarious lines, like “there’s poo in there” and a funny bit about Rosie O’Donnell.

No Watchmen until 2010?

The legal debate over who owns the rights to Watchmen just gets worse and worse. Word from Cinematical is that Fox is pushing for a June court date, while Warner Brothers is hoping for April.

Umm, hello? The movie it set to release on March 6th, 2009!

Obviously if this giant scuffle isn’t resolved by the intended release date, it’s doubtful we’ll see it in theaters this March. And with the length that most trials go these days, and if Fox gets their wish, could it be the summer of 2010 before this movie actually is seen by the general public?

Transporter 3 Movie Trailer and Poster

Jason Statham is back for this third installment of the Transporter series. We’ve got the newly released poster and movie trailer for Transporter 3 just waiting for you to check it out.

Voiceover Legend Don LaFontaine Dies at Age 68

Don LaFontaine is a name that will likely come as a strange one to the average person. If you can identify who he is and what he’s famous for, you are probably in the minority.

But if you could hear him speak one sentence, you’d recognize him instantly.

I’m embarassed to say that I knew the name vaguely when I heard it today, but couldn’t place it. But once I read he was the King of Voiceovers, I remembered who he was and was suddenly bummed out by the news that he passed away on Monday.

Avoid Babylon A.D. At All Costs?

I like Vin Diesel, I admit it. Pitch Black is one of my favorite science fiction movies films, and I enjoyed Chronicles of Riddick. So when I saw the first trailers for Babylon A.D., I was actually intrigued and figured with Diesel and a cool looking science fiction story, nothing could go wrong.

Oh boy did something bad happen to this movie.

I haven’t seen it yet, and by all accounts, I shouldn’t. But some of the stuff being said about just how bad it is actually make me want to witness for myself what all the fuss is about.

Full Max Payne Trailer Is Here

Reactions to the stuff we’ve posted on Max Payne so far has been mixed at best. Some of you love it and say it looks exactly like the video game and some of you hate it and say it’s going to be awful. Well, no matter how you feel about it, you should check out this new full trailer for it and tell us what you think.
