Flight of the Conchords a Two Season Act?

Flight of the Conchords a Two Season Act?

News out of New Zealand reports that Jemaine Clement and Bret McKenzie, the comedy folk music duo behind Flight of the Conchords, will be ending their run on HBO after this upcoming second season.

It doesn’t come as a surprise to me in a way. Throughout the hilarious first season I kept wondering how they’d keep being able to write unique songs for every episode and keep them fresh.

Snow Patrol’s A Hundred Million Suns debuts October 28th

Yes, I know there are a hundred million bands out there with upcoming albums and I don’t write about many of them, but that’s because Snow Patrol is my absolute favorite, so you’re going to get news about them.

Back in late May I let you guys know that the band was working on a new album per their website, but try as I might, more info wasn’t to be had. But now we have the album name and U.S. release date. Although I’m a bit late, as it was announced back on August 16th.

Bear McCreary’s Eureka Soundtrack Is Released

We’ve often discussed the many musical talents of Bear McCreary, mostly in relation to the wonderful work he does on Battlestar Galactica. But did you know he also does the music for one of my other favorite shows from the Sci-fi channel, Eureka?

The Middleman recap: “The Vampiric Puppet Lamentation”

Young Noser will be rent limb from limb to save you!
You really can’t get much more literal than that, can you Middlefans?
Tonight’s episode of The Middleman finds Wendy Watson fighting to save Middleman, fighting to save Lacey, fighting to save Noser, and fighting puppets. Seems a bit of a let down that her big fight [...]

MHD to be renamed Palladia and get fresh musical programming

MTV’s high definition music channel, called MHD, is a very popular destination for fans of concerts and other musical related programming. I’ve seen a few items of interest on it, including a sweet Snow Patrol concert from the Isle of Wight Festival.

The biggest plus to this channel of course is that it’s 100% high definition. The images are great, the sound is perfect and if you are a music buff, MHD is the place for you.

Music Review: Third Day - Revelation - Vaults to Elite Status

Someday around the year, uh, Zero Jesus Christ was born. Independence Day for the United States is celebrated on July 4th. On the 20th day of November in 1974, yours truly was born. Saturday is my favorite day. And on Tuesday, July 29th 2008, Third Day released their latest CD - Revelation.

Smashing Pumpkins loving the Watchmen

I’m guilty of being caught up in the hype that is the Smashing Pumpkin’s song, The Beginning is the End is the Beginning. At first I thought I was the only one completely enthralled by the song and lyrics that accompanied the first trailer for Watchmen.

I even posted a blog about the origins of the song and how Zach Snyder chose to use it on his trailer. I was sucked in.

The Friday Question - Music

Music is a weird thing for me. Sometimes I can’t get enough of it, and then on other occasions I don’t turn my iPod on for weeks and instead listen to the radio or something cool on XM.

Right now, I’ve become addicted to two stand-up comedy channels on XM, which completely entertain me on the daily commute.

The inside scoop on the Smashing Pumpkins’ song from the Watchmen trailer

I can’t get the song out of my head from the Watchmen trailer. I heard some people grumbling about how it didn’t have a lot of power to it, but I thought it had strength in its quiet, dark tones.

In case you missed it, the song is from the Smashing Pumpkins: Rarities & B-Sides album.

Huey Lewis does the “Pineapple Express” theme

First it was The Power of Love for Back to the Future, and now Huey Lewis has created a theme song for the new Judd Apatow comedy, Pineapple Express.

It stars Seth Rogan and James Franco, and it’s all about smoking pot and being chased by bad guys. At least, that’s what the trailer looks like.
