This is the dumping grounds for posts that don’t really have any other place to go here on Pop Critics.
Top 'Critics' for May 2008
So last month was an aberration, an anomaly on the road of life. We had two people with over 300 comments, one of them sitting at 533! That of course was Cap’n Schwartz, otherwise known as “The Cap’n” around these parts. Would he repeat again? Yes, he would, despite some serious competition from Scotty Dub, [...] Continue →
Welcome to the new host!
If you can read this post on our site, then you’ve made it to our new host! Congrats, give yourself a pat on the back! Continue →
Hopefully our little problems will be a thing of the past and we’ll have a nice, long period of blissful web server hosting. Continue →
The DNS changed on Monday night around 5pm PST, so it SHOULD be pretty good and propagated by Tuesday morning. If not, you might want to think about a new ISP. *grin* Continue →
Thanks for bearing with us during the last few days! Continue →

Site problems again
Jason and I wanted to apologize briefly this morning for the sluggish nature of the site today. We’re experiencing some increased traffic, but also just realizing we need a more powerful server to host PopCritics.com. So this week we’ll be moving to a new host, maybe even as soon as tonight if I can get [...] Continue →
Pop Critics suffers some hiccups, but we're still ticking!
Early Friday morning our site was moved to a new host that is better, with more memory and an updated operating system. Continue →
However, in the process, we suffered a slight snafu when one of our DB tables got corrupted during the transfer. It took most of the day to figure out the problem, but once we did, the site was back up and running just in time for Battlestar Galactica to air and the recap to be posted. *grin* Continue →
Pop Critics Looking For Writers
Pop Critics is actively looking for more talented and enthusiastic writers who can tackle some of the things we’re not already covering, or perhaps contribute new points of view to television shows or subjects we are already covering. Continue →
Pop Critics gets Facebooked and Twitterized
One of our main focuses here at Pop Critics is the community. We always look at ways to involve you guys, because it just makes it that much more fun for all of us. Avatars, Ultimate Bad Ass…those are just awesome ways for all of us to get to know each other and grow as a little community of pop culture critics. Continue →
The winner of the Pop Critics avatar contest!
We announced a few weeks ago that Pop Critics switched to Gravatars for our little avatar displays next to your name, and we told you how to get your own. Continue →
Along with that we also said we’d do a little contest in which Jason and myself would choose our favorite avatar from the ones you guys decided to go with. Continue →
Top 'Critics' for April 2008
I really hope we haven’t peaked in the comment department, because last month was off the hizzle. (That’s “hook” for all you non-rappers out there.) In March, we had ONE guy over 100 comments, and that was the Trousered Ape with 102. The overall record was 167 back months ago, so things had tapered off. [...] Continue →
Pop Critics goes Gravatar
I know a lot of you may be going, Grava-what? Continue →
Well, there are things called Avatars, which are little pictoral representations of yourself that you use all over the web, be it Facebook, MySpace, forums, etc. Even right here. Continue →
Pop Critics to give Disqus a shot
By Mike on June 6, 2008
As I’ve mentioned many, many times, the fun we have here is interacting with all you guys. If we didn’t get feedback, discussions or opinions on stuff we post about, we’d likely give up, because Jason and I can really only take so much of talking to each other. Continue →
That being the case, we’ve been impressed with the guys over at Disqus and what they do for blogging communities. Continue →
